About me

Sheena

Sheena

I was born in Scotland of Scottish parents whose ancestors came from Caithness, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Dumfriesshire and Midlothan to settle eventually in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I have been tracing my own family history for the past 15 years.

I currently live on the Hertfordshire/Middlesex border but, because of the requirements of my husband’s job, move around Great Britain regularly. My previous career was as a civil servant, managing computer systems for a government department.

About five years ago, I decided to combine my love of family history with the analytical skills developed through my work to start a new career as a genealogist and family historian.

I’m a professional genealogist specialising in Scottish research, but also undertaking research in England. In addition to this I teach an online genealogy course and contribute to two of the British genealogy magazines Practical Family History and Family Tree Magazine.
